In my VB6 application I just create a recordselectionforumla that limits to a list of regionid's (as selected by the user). This worked for me… I had the same error and I realized that Crystal Reports does not support varchar data type of length more than 250 characters. I've gone through the suggestions from cr_xi_designer_migration.pdf and xir2_cr_usergde_en.pdf as well. If regions are added (and that happens here from time to time) I would have to modify the report to include those regions.
